Sisters to host retreat ‘Giving an Account for Hope’
Join the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, and others during the upcoming retreat “Giving an Account for Hope,” scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 23, and conclude at noon on Friday, Oct. 28.
Join facilitator Sister Marie McCarthy, SP, and the spiritual companion team as you learn to keep yourself grounded in this very troubling world. The retreat is intended to assist you in touching the deep well of hope within and help you live out the hope in ways that bring hope to others.

There will be time for personal reflection and prayer in addition to the chance to share your faith journey with others and meet with a spiritual companion.
“I think we must first get in touch with the reality and truth that we are deeply loved by God, just as we are,” Sister Marie said. “We are a part of this marvelous creation all of which reflects the Holy One, and that the whole of creation and the whole of our lives is one long, continuing process of unfolding and becoming, of transformation into the fullness of who we are called to be and that we do not travel alone.”
Sister Marie said during the retreat, participants will be able to draw on Scripture in the Bible – such as Scripture from Romans and John – as well as poetry from Hafiz and others – and additional spiritual writings, including the works of Teilhard de Chardin and Rumi.
Cost is $495 per person with housing or $300 without housing. The cost includes 13 meals, materials and refreshments. The registration deadline is Oct. 16 and space is limited.
