Sisters to participate in ‘River Witness’

To culminate Catholic Sisters Week, the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, along with many other women religious, will participate in a public “River Witness” on Monday, March 14, in tribute to Laudato Si and Care for our Earth.

The public is invited to join the Sisters of Providence as they will travel from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods to Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute to take part in the event near the Wabash River. The program is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., and it is suggested that those who attend should bring chairs.

International Rivers Day is March 14 and coincides with the final day of Catholic Sisters Week. The Sisters of Providence will join the effort with other women religious through the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) during a witness for care of our rivers and water. Many other Congregations will take part in various locations.

The event has been set up to urge action for the planet and all of the people who inhabit it.
