Local author to conduct book signing at Linden Leaf Gifts

Linden Leaf Gifts, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, will host local author Lacey Robinson for a book signing from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Lacey, who teaches fifth grade at Riley Elementary School, will be on hand signing copies of her first book, “A to Z the Bible Teaches Me,” which was published in 2020 by BIG Pen Publishing, based in Tulsa, Okla.

Saturday’s book signing will be the third for Lacey, and she is looking forward to the event.

“I had gone to Sunday Brunch at the O’Shaughnessy Dining Hall and afterward decided to walk through Linden Leaf Gifts as I had not visited it before,” Lacey commented. “I noticed there were several books in stock geared to children. I spoke with (Linden Leaf Gifts) Store Manager Ryan Sheehy to see if he would be interested in carrying a few books. I didn’t happen to have a copy with me, so I drove it out the next day.”

The two discussed the possibility of a book signing the weekend of Oct. 23, during the Sisters of Providence General Chapter gathering, and Lacey was delighted that she was available.

Ryan said Linden Leaf Gifts has had author book signings in the past and is pleased to host one with a local author.

“We’ve had some book signings,” Ryan said. “We talked about it when she popped in and I said, ‘Absolutely. That sounds good.’”

In her book, Lacey pens rhymes for each letter of the alphabet and adds Bible scripture in the attempt to help explain the principles of the Bible for children ages 2-5.

“The most important thing I want children to learn while reading the book is that God loves them,” Lacey said. “When writing the book, I had small children at home. I loved reading rhyming books to them. As they got older, I enjoyed letting them practice reading to me. Again, rhyming books were usually a hit.

“I included the scripture to go along with each rhyme because the teacher in me is always hopeful children will want to learn more.”

Lacey added she is currently working on her second book, which is also geared for children.

Linden Leaf Gifts is located inside Providence Spirituality & Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The store is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., on weekdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m., on weekends. For more information, log on to lindenleafgifts.com.
