The Providence Climate Agreement
Our latest Providence Climate Agreement pledge total has reached 3,150,713 pounds!
Our original goal was to reduce our Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2 million pounds in one year. We came close, but by September, we exceeded our goal!
Through Providence, we have achieved our goal and are moving ahead!
We aren’t stopping here! Read more about our continued mission in this blog written by Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp.

So we’re off full speed ahead!
In fact, we have a new goal!
At a recent Climate Change Task Force meeting, it was decided our new goal is to reduce our CO2 emissions by 4 million pounds by July 1, 2021. Stay tuned for further details!
The Providence Climate Agreement was developed by the Climate Change Task Force in order to provide – for the Sisters of Providence, Providence Associates, family and friends, and all others concerned – an action of resistance to climate change that is significant, doable, and at least roughly measurable.
Read the Climate Change Manifesto, which sets out some of the reasons for action. Below, you can find the Providence Climate Agreement (our collective goal), a pledge form enabling individuals or households to commit to specific actions and estimate the results, and resources, to help you with your Providence Climate Agreement pledges.
As in the Paris Climate Agreement of 2016, the goal and the actions are stated as pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2). This “greenhouse gas,” emitted into the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels, is a primary cause of global warming.
The Providence Climate Agreement: Mindful of the effects of climate injustice on the cosmos, Earth, and all creatures of Earth, particularly the most vulnerable, we commit to work against climate injustice. We pledge that by June 2019, we will have collectively reduced the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2 million pounds (in personal activities and in local or broader communities). We pledge, in addition, to advocate for strong environmental policy.
We can’t reach our goal without you!

I’m keeping track of how many miles I drive in the car I share.
We recently purchased a compost bin and clothesline to attempt to reduce our waste and drying energy.

Helpful info. Fortunate me I discovered your web site by accident, and I am surprised
why this coincidence did not took place in advance!
I bookmarked it.
Can’t believe that all the Career Politicians and even Pres. Trump all have their head up their Buts when it comes to climate change. I am blessed enough to have a home in the Florida Keys. Since the mid 70’s I have seen the water level in my canal rise over the years.
I would like my children to enjoy the home above water.
Wake up all you bottom feeders and help save the planet.
