July 9, 2017: Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

At that time Jesus exclaimed:
I will give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned
You have revealed them to the little ones.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by My Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart and you will find rest for yourselves for my yoke us easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:25-30)

Reflection

“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Why should life be heavy-laden if we have God with us? Jesus assures us that this “rest” (inner peace) is his gift to us now and not only eternally after our death.

Action

This week let’s be peacemakers. Let’s exercise wisdom-by acknowledging what is right and true and combining that with just judgment in our actions. Let’s pray for someone we consider an enemy.
