Saint Theodora string doll travels all the way from Thailand!

On Sept. 13, Linden Leaf Gifts will begin taking pre-orders for the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin string doll keychain.
On Sept. 13, Linden Leaf Gifts will begin taking pre-orders for the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin string doll keychain.

Linden Leaf Gifts – a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana – offers many exclusive Saint Mother Theodore Guerin items, including bags, jewelry, mugs and even books for children.

And beginning in October, the shop will add a new collectible string doll keychain to that ever-growing list.

Linden Leaf Gifts Manager Ryan Sheehy said the shop will unveil the new Saint Mother Theodore Guerin string doll keychain to the public at the store on Saturday, Oct. 3, in celebration of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s Feast Day. The doll was created by the Original String Doll Gang. It stands 3-inches in height.

“We are really excited about this,” Sheehy said. “This is not the kind of thing you see elsewhere.”

Sheehy said the idea came to life after Providence Associate Joan Frisz offered encouragement to him to contact the South Carolina based fair trade company, which specializes in the items.

Sheehy said Frisz also owns and operates a fair trade store in Louisville.

“The Original String Doll Gang is really consistent with the sister’s mission,” Sheehy said.

Sheehy is also pleased to announce the string doll keychain is the first official Saint Mother Theodore Guerin fair trade product available at Linden Leaf Gifts.

“This is the first step of the unification of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and fair trade,” he said.

Sheehy said the first 200 offered to the public will be part of a limited edition. Those particular items will be numbered on the back, making them a collector’s item. The back of the limited edition package will include a small biography of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s life.

The front of the package will include the saying, “Saint Theodora reminds you that God’s love never fails.”

The limited edition string doll keychain will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

However, Linden Leaf Gifts will begin taking pre-orders on Sunday, Sept. 13.

In addition, the Original String Doll Gang will donate $1 to the mission of the Sisters of Providence for each item sold, and they will be sold worldwide.

Linden Leaf Gifts is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
