Online radio show answers question ‘what is a Providence Associate?’
What is a Providence Associate, anyway?
Providence Associates Lori Strawn and Alice Shelton address that question here in their blog talk radio show, Open Book.
In the podcast, Lori says the relationship might begin with a person feeling a closeness to a group of religious.

“They are attracted to what motivates them, to that faith life. And they want to make that relationship more formal. It’s a matter, I think, of saying, ‘This is who I stand with. I love these people. I support these people. I want to be of some use to these people.’”
During the episode, Alice answers the question, “What does a Providence Associate do?”
“For me it is really living out my life. For me it is a way of thinking about walking forward in my own faith journey and knowing that in every step of it in some way the Sisters of Providence will continue to be involved…. There is a commitment that the Sisters of Providence have made to me through this relationship that I did not have before. And that commitment to me is I think to allow me to walk along with their community. Grow with it. Change with it. Make hard decisions with it,” Lori says.
If you have ever asked that question, “What is a Providence Associate, anyway?” this episode of Open Book is worth your time!
