July 27, 2014: 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Fox SMW

Jesus reminds us that God is The Treasure in all creation, including us. (This photo was taken on the ground of Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, In.)

Jesus said to his disciples:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field,
which a person finds and hides again,
and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant
searching for fine pearls.
When he finds a pearl of great price,
he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” (Matthew 13:44-46)

Reflection:

In this parable, we are reminded that God is The Treasure in all creation, including us. How exciting! We already have This Great Treasure, and we grow in the realization of God as Our Treasure as we strive to be the best and most loving persons we can.

Action:

Brainstorm how you can become happier and holier. Choose one action that will assist you in growing to be your best self, a more loving and caring person.
