May 26: 2013: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Sister Denise Wilkinson in a moment of prayer.

“Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of Truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming,
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.” “(John 16: 12-15)

John reminds us that, just as Jesus promised the Disciples that the Spirit of Truth would guide them when the time was right, it is that same spirit that will guide us through the most difficult times in our own lives and lead us to truth.

Action:

Without taking the time for quiet and reflection, we may not hear the Spirit of Truth.
Give yourself a time of solitude today so you can listen, so you can hear and so you can be open to the Spirit of Truth. Perhaps it will become a daily gift you give yourself.
As Rainer Maria Rilke says:
“Your solitude will be a support and a home for you,
and from it you will find all your paths.”
