A Lenten message

Traditionally, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and has been thought of as a time to give up something.

This action creates a reminder of repentance and renewal in one’s relationship with God and others.

However, today many prefer to think of this time as not “giving up something” but rather as addressing personal habits that need to be improved upon; a time of personal renewal in response to God’s unconditional love which is far greater than we can imagine. And the cross is a reminder of Jesus’ total self-giving to bring “ wholeness” to all of humankind and all of creation. Jesus’ life of “Yes” is a mission of reconciliation, forgiveness, love, mercy and justice. Like Jesus, how are you opening up to God’s invitation to love and recognizing the call in participating in his mission during this Lenten season?

If you would like to learn more about how you can live a life of love, mercy and justice as a Sister of Providence, call Sister Editha Ben for more information!
