Debbie Dillow named Providence Associate assistant director
Debbie Dillow, a resident of Lizton, Ind., and a Providence Associate with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods since 2008, has been named assistant director for the Providence Associate Relationship.
Providence Associates enter into the relationship for the opportunity to participate in the life and mission of the Sisters of Providence. In six years since this relationship opportunity was introduced, there are more than 160 people who have chosen to become a Providence Associate, in addition to 28 who are preparing to become associates in 2011-2012 after a year or more of candidacy.
Dillow serves on the Providence Associate Advisory Board. She has a master’s degree in media arts and science from Indiana University and has eight years of experience with ANGEL Learning/Blackboard Inc., an online learning program that integrates curriculum and technology. During the past year, she has been a configuration consultant with Moodlerooms Inc., helping clients use Moodle/joule LMS to foster “e-learning” at their institutions.
She has been a member of St. Malachy Parish in Brownsburg, Ind., since joining the Catholic Church 27 years ago.
“Working with the associates and the Sisters of Providence has brought new faith-filled and spirit-led experiences into my life that are allowing me to grow in my spirituality. I hope to be able to share this with other associates as they journey in their relationship with the Sisters of Providence and other associates,” Dillow said.
Providence Associates are women and men (at least 18 years of age) of diverse faith traditions who seek a formal relationship with the Sisters of Providence. They may have known the sisters for a long time or have just recently heard about the sisters. Associates are drawn to this relationship with the Sisters of Providence for many reasons, but primarily, they wish to deepen their spiritual life and they see themselves as being called to respond to the Providence vision through their own particular way of life.
