June 26, 2011: Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

Jesus, the living bread of life, is part of you!

Jesus said, “I am the living bread which comes down from heaven; those who eat of this bread will live forever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (John 6:51)

Catholics and many other Christians believe that when they receive Holy Communion they are receiving Jesus.
We believe this because Jesus told us. Jesus becomes one with us and nourishes us spiritually just as food nourishes us physically.
The food we eat gives us physical strength and when we receive Jesus in Holy Communion we receive the spiritual strength to be his loving and caring presence in our world.

Action:

When you receive Holy Communion remember that you are receiving Jesus into your own body.
He is a part of you.
Through you Jesus is present to your family, to your friends, to anyone with whom you have contact.
Be the presence of Jesus to those around you!
