June 12, 2011: Pentecost

With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can love, be joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, thoughtful, faithful, gentle, courageous and self-controlled.
Jesus came and stood among his friends and said to them,
“Peace be with you.”…He breathed on them, and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:19, 22)
Last week we considered the fact that Jesus went to God and also remains with us.
On this feast of Pentecost, we remember that we received the Holy Spirit at our baptism.
The Holy Spirit is God’s life within us. With the help of the Holy Spirit we can live as Jesus wants us to live. We have Spirit-power. We no longer need to be afraid.
God the Holy Spirit is with us always.
Just as the apostles were filled with the Spirit on that first Pentecost, the Church and each of us are filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit helps us live as disciples of Jesus.
Action:
With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can love, be joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, thoughtful, faithful, gentle, courageous and self-controlled.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you, especially when you have a hard time living one or more of these virtues. You can do it!
