May 29, 2011: 6th Sunday of Easter

Are your actions showing your love for Jesus?

Those who know my commandments and keep them, those are they who love me; and those who love me will be loved by God who sent me, and I will love them and reveal myself to them. (John 14:21)

In these words Jesus tells us that our love for him is proven through our actions.
Isn’t that true of loving in general? If we love our parents we obey them; that’s how we show our love.
If we love our sisters and brothers, our friends and teachers, we show it in the way we act toward them.
We know when we are loved and when we are not.
People know when we really care about them.
We show our love in the way we speak to and treat others.

Action:

When you are tempted to be unkind, rude, or disrespectful toward another person, ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”
Try to live as he wants you to live.
