Creation Sights introduces redesigned website

This is one of the many images, created by Sister Jody O’Neil, that can be seen on the creationsights.org website.

Creationsights.org, a website featuring the art of Sister of Providence Jody O’Neil recently updated its website.

Sister Jody works in the Roethele Art Studio/Gallery at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Her artistry is a ministry of the Sisters of Providence. Her work has been displayed at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum and the Arts Illiana Gallery, both located in Terre Haute.

Sister Jody said the website launched in 2006. In addition, it was created by a Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College senior intern.

“After she graduated, various members of the sisters’ Mission Advancement office assisted me with keeping the site updated,” Sister Jody said.

Recently, Providence Associate Duane Drake, of Cincinnati, offered to help redesign the site.

“I also had the fortune to have a current college senior intern, Rian Jones, work with me in my studio to reconstruct the website,” Sister Jody added. Rian took most of the spring semester to redesign the website using WordPress because the Sisters of Providence website uses that format.

“Our goal was to link the website to the Sisters of Providence website. We wanted a clean and simple design so we chose a theme that allowed us the creative freedom that was cost effective.”

Sister Jody said Drake assisted by hosting the website during the developmental stages.

“Rian helped me organize and categorize my art work (on the site),” Sister Jody said. “She searched theme options and researched other artist sites to gain insight on what would be visually appealing, what is popular and what was easiest to navigate.”

Sister Jody said the new design also has new features.

“New features to this redesigned website are the Sketchbook Journal gallery and the Instagram feed page,” Sister Jody said. “The Sketchbook Journal gallery shows more personal expressions while Instagram helps my clientele keep up-to-date with my artistic ventures.

“The website attracts a broader audience and it is a great way to archive past events. It helps to have Instagram as a page on the site because anyone can view it regardless of whether or not they have an Instagram account. The website is a key marketing tool for my art ministry.”

Sister Jody said her website has always generated lots of traffic and hopes the new look will continue to do so.

“Many people access the site after viewing my work as it is exhibited in a variety of venues,” she said. “Former clients check the site to view images of my newest work and follow my exhibit history as well as upcoming events.

“I’m delighted with the new look. It is bright, interactive and representative of my work.”

Sister Jody earned degrees in art from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and religious studies from Mundelein College, located in Chicago.

She specializes in acrylic media and oil. Her interests include drawing, fiber arts, photography, sculpture, leaded glass design, watercolor and watermedia collage.
