Family Day at the Woods will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1-4 p.m. at Foley Park in front of Providence Center. All are welcome.
Family Day began as part of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in 2008. In 2013, we celebrated our 6th annual Family Day with more than 400 in attendance – parents, children, grandparents, aunts and uncles – friends and neighbors to the Sisters of Providence. Please click here to read more about Family Day last year.
The day features outside games, crafts, an eco-obstacle course, hay rides, alpaca shuttle tours, prizes and even Booth Bingo where folks receive a stuffed animal or game for visiting a certain number of the booths during the day.
Returning favorites each year are the Sugar Creek Fire Department’s ladder truck, Larry Black, the motorcycle-riding animal-balloon clown and a visit to the alpaca pasture.
Best of all, activities and food are free, including hot dogs and buns, cookies, popcorn and donated Pepsi products (while supplies last). The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Families come from Terre Haute and West Terre Haute, Paris, Brazil, Bloomington, Marshall and other surrounding areas. It’s an energizing day for sister and staff volunteers who love seeing the Woods filled with laughing children and parents, and even an occasional family pet (on a leash).
