Sisters of Providence are present all around you.
For more than 170 years, our spiritually passionate women have been breaking boundaries and creating hope in diverse, apostolic work throughout the world. We strive to effect positive change in the world through ministries such as education, social service, eco-justice and health care. We create hope for the future with our pastoral work, spiritual development and education.
As Sisters of Providence, we are:
We are women religious dedicated to the mission to be God’s Providence in our world, to effect positive change and to create hope for the future.
We are women religious who are deeply involved in personal and group prayer for our world, the needs of the communities in which we live, our donors and friends and for each other.
We are women who follow the way charted by our foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, a determined 19th-century French woman who came as a pioneer to the Indiana wilderness because she believed she could make a difference.
We are women who respect the interconnectedness of all of creation. We strive to be good stewards of resources such as energy, intellect and money that Providence has provided.
We are women visionaries who respond to the pressing needs of our time.
We are women who extend ourselves to people who are poor, oppressed or voiceless. We respect the relationship of Earth to humankind.
We are women who act on our convictions.
Faithful, in community ~
We are women who live prayerfully and apostolically as a community among the people that we serve.
We are women carrying the message of God’s providential care.
