In 1889, the Sisters of Providence were asked by the pastor to staff St. Rose School (grade and high) in Chelsea, Mass. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur had been teaching there, but the pastor wanted to include boys, and these sisters taught only girls. The high school closed in 1987 because of a great decrease in enrollment. The grade school is still open, with lay teachers and two Sisters of Providence. Learn more at www.strosechelsea.com.
St. Rose School maintains an alumni office. We encourage all alumne/i to maintain ties with both the school alumni association and the Sisters of Providence Alumnae/i Associations. Please keep your information updated with both organization to ensure that you will receive information that pertains to all alumnae/i.
