Amy Miranda receives 2015 Leadership and Advocacy Award from GOM

At the Guerin Outreach Ministries’ (GOM) annual board meeting on Oct. 14, Amy Miranda was presented with the 2015 Leadership and Advocacy Award for her exceptional guidance in providing support that put a professional, polished face on the Guerin Outreach Ministries, which include Providence Family Services and Providence in the Desert.

Miranda, a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, has worked for the Sisters of Providence since 1999. She currently serves as Publication/Marketing Manager with the Sisters of Providence Mission Advancement office.

Miranda, a Providence Associate, is also a Providence Associates Advisory Board member and marketing manager.

“Amy is a self-starter who follows through with her tasks and always kept me updated on how various projects were going,” said Frances Ginther, who has worked with Miranda in supporting GOM since September 2008. “Amy has always been responsive to every request that we have made during her time with us. She has great ideas, and we are especially grateful for her support in getting more publicity for Guerin Outreach Ministries, both online and in print.”

“I have loved working with Guerin Outreach Ministries,” Miranda said. “I really believe in the good work they do, and it has been a privilege to help tell their story. Even if I’m not working with the ministry, I will remain a lifelong supporter.”

Miranda – a resident of Terre Haute – said she is particularly touched by what the ministries do because she had few options growing up. She knows the importance of what they bring to people who don’t have anyone else to help them get ahead and improve themselves.

“It touches my heart to see the way they empower those they serve and help give them tools that can help lead them out of poverty,” Miranda said. “The people who make up Guerin Outreach Ministries are the best! They inspire me and have become my mentors and my friends. I will very much miss working with them.”

“Amy’s time with Guerin Outreach Ministries is coming to an end,” noted Sister Patty Fillenwarth, board president for Guerin Outreach Ministries and director of Providence Family Services. “We remain ever grateful that she has worked so diligently to support us with such excellence. We will miss her and thank her for her superb work over the years.”

Guerin Outreach Ministries provides educational programs and family services to people in need through Providence Family Services, located in Chicago, and Providence in the Desert, located in Coachella, Calif.
